Mark Mendel

Mark J. Mendel, Ph.D., joined Sozo Ventures in June 2022.

He is a Venture Partner of  Sozo Ventures and Managing Director at Mendel Consulting, LLC. He serves on the board of directors of Sozo portfolio company Aromyx, Inc. Mark co-founded and previously served as managing director of RiverVest Venture Partners. Mark was a Kauffman Fellow with ARCH Venture Partners. Mark has worked in medical research at the Scheie Eye Institute and Massachusetts General Hospital and in product development at ALYX Medical. He has a Ph.D. in bioengineering from the University of Pennsylvania and a B.S.M.E from Cornell. As a volunteer, he teaches climbing with the Washington Alpine Club. In addition, he serves as a ski patroller with Crystal Mountain and a member of the advisory board with Cornell Outdoor Education.
